China Daily website, September 20th: On September 19th, the highly anticipated international event for the energy and petrochemical industry - the "2024 (21st) China International Chemical Exhibition" - grandly opened at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. The exhibition is hosted by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation and co-organized by the Chemical Industry Branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the China National Chemical Information Center.
This exhibition, with the theme of "New Development, New Pattern, Shaping the Future Together", showcases the significant achievements of the current energy and petrochemical industry in accelerating the cultivation and development of new quality productivity. It has become an important platform for enterprises to promote new products, new technologies, new equipment and new achievements, as well as for product procurement and trade exchanges. The exhibition brought together tens of thousands of products and advanced technologies from the industrial and supply chains of energy and petrochemicals, basic chemical raw materials, fine chemicals, new chemical materials, chemical reagents and laboratory equipment, chemical packaging and storage and transportation, digitalization - intelligent manufacturing, chemical engineering and equipment, chemical safety and environmental protection, as well as process chemical solutions. The exhibits cover multiple fields such as energy, petroleum, petrochemicals, coal chemical industry and chemical engineering.
As one of the important annual events of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, the exhibition has received strong support and extensive participation from member units of the federation and industry enterprises. China National Petroleum Corporation, China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, Sinochem Group, Shanghai Huayi Group, Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum, China North Industries Group Corporation Huajin, Jincheng Petrochemical, Hengli Petrochemical, Dongming Petrochemical, Juhua Group, Tianjin Bohua, Qingdao Bay Group, Lu 'an Chemical, Wanda Petrochemical, Lubei Chemical, Guizhou Phosphate Chemical, Jingbo Petrochemical, Xiehe New Energy, CNOOC Services and others represent the advanced development in China's energy and petrochemical sectors All the leading enterprises in the industry made their appearances.
On the afternoon of September 18th, just before the opening of the exhibition, the ICIF 2024 Roundtable Dialogue on "Transforming the Future Together" was held. Heavyweight special guests such as leaders and senior managers of domestic and foreign giants in the energy and petrochemical industries, leaders of industry associations, and financial experts from investment and financing institutions were invited to attend. Offer suggestions and strategies on demand-driven and innovation-driven development, enhancing the supply capacity of high-end products, maintaining the security and stability of industrial and supply chains, accelerating the cultivation and development of new quality productive forces, the "15th Five-Year Plan" development proposals, and the transformation and upgrading strategy that combines enterprise planning with national and industrial planning. Build consensus through the collision of ideas and plan for the high-quality development of the industry.
On the morning of September 19th, Li Yongwu, the former president of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, Zhao Jungui, the vice president and secretary-general, industry experts, entrepreneurs, exhibitor representatives, senior leaders of well-known domestic and foreign petrochemical enterprises, as well as leaders and guests from petrochemical industry associations and government agencies such as the Investment Promotion Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce attended the exhibition to exchange technologies and discuss development with the participating enterprises. The year 2024 is a crucial one for China to implement its 14th Five-Year Plan. Under the goals of "dual carbon" and "dual control", the energy and petrochemical industries have accelerated the pace of green transformation and structural adjustment. In the new stage of development, the petroleum and chemical industry needs to accelerate the enhancement of its innovation capabilities, transform its development mode, cultivate new competitive advantages, promote the integrated development of the supply chain and industrial chain, and create a new future of high-end, green and intelligent for the industry.
Ma Xiaowei, an expert from the East China Chemical Sales and Technical Service Department of China National Petroleum Corporation, said that in response to the market situation of "excess of low-end products and shortage of high-end ones", China National Petroleum Corporation is committed to breaking through the technical barriers of high-end products and has launched a series of highly competitive refining and chemical products. For instance, ultra-clean polyene products provide solutions in the medical field, cable field, lithium battery and capacitor field. Meanwhile, the company has intensified its research and development of new materials, establishing a new materials research institute in Lingang, Shanghai, and a Blue Ocean New Materials Company in Tongzhou Bay, Nantong. It focuses on developing high-end chemical products and materials that can replace imports, thereby enhancing the company's market competitiveness.
Under the "dual carbon" goals, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) has achieved green and low-carbon development through various means such as optimizing refining and chemical processes, promoting energy conservation and emission reduction technologies, and enhancing the level of circular economy. Specifically, it includes eliminating high-energy-consuming equipment and promoting energy-saving technological transformation in refineries; Adopt carbon capture and utilization technology (CCUS) to reduce carbon emissions; Promote the development and application of bio-based materials and gradually reduce the reliance on fossil raw materials.
The "2024 China Petrochemical Industry Forum" held concurrently with the exhibition includes over 10 conferences and nearly 100 reports. The forum invites renowned experts, scholars and entrepreneurs to gather together to jointly plan for the development of the industry and contribute to the sustainable and high-quality development of the energy and petrochemical industries. The report conducted exchanges and in-depth discussions on themes such as the industry's "dual carbon" goals, green, low-carbon and sustainable development, digital and intelligent transformation solutions, policies, regulations and compliance management for the import and export of chemicals, new process routes, and innovation in new materials. Among them, the Smart Chemical Industry Conference has been held for seven consecutive years. This year, it focuses on cutting-edge issues such as digital transformation, the development of smart factories, and the application of AI technology, and conducts sharing and exchanges.
The "China Petrochemical Industry Week", centered on the "China International Chemical Exhibition", together with the "China Rubber Technology Exhibition" and the "China Adhesive and Sealant Exhibition", will be held in 12 exhibition halls including E4-E7, N1-N5 and W4-W6 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. The overall scale will exceed 130,000 square meters, with over 2,500 participating enterprises. It is expected that the three-day exhibition period will attract more than 80,000 domestic and foreign purchasing buyers and professional visitors.
